The Philadelphia Wings have not only revealed they will have a dance squad, but that former Sixers Dancer Kerri McDonald will be their head coach.

By all accounts, it’s a pretty good time to be a Philadelphia sports fan.

The Sixers are headed to the NBA postseason after years of tanking and losing. The Flyers are also in the playoffs and have a very bright future ahead of them. The Phillies, after a shaky start, have apparently found their rhythm and are starting to put together some wins.

Oh yeah. And the Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl.

So yes, it is a pretty awesome time to be a Philly sports fan. I mean, how could it get any better?

Well, the Philadelphia Wings somehow found a way.

On Tuesday, the new kids on the sports block dropped a couple of interesting bits of news on their fans. First, the Wings will have a dance squad of their very own that will go by the name of the Wings Dancers.

If that wasn’t good enough, they also announced that Kerri McDonald would be the squad’s first head coach.

If you are a Sixers fan and the name Kerri McDonald sounds familiar to you, there is a very good reason. McDonald was a member of the Sixers Dancers for eight years and was the team captain for her final three as part of the squad.

In addition, McDonald is a Philly girl through and through, having graduated from St. Joseph’s University and then getting her Masters from Immaculata University. She grew up here, went to school here and now will lead a new generation of Wings Dancers when the new franchise begins play this upcoming NLL season.

The Philly Sports Cave reached out to Lindsey Masciangelo, Executive Director of Business Operations for the Wings about what fans can expect with the addition of McDonald.

“We are extremely excited to have Kerri on board to build the foundation of the Wings Dancers. With her experience and creativity she is going to build a first class dance organization that is exciting for fans to watch and engage with.”

The Wings Dancers already have a Twitter and Facebook page, so you better get on the bandwagon as soon as you can. It sure sounds to me like Wings games are going to be quite the party this season and you definitely don’t want to miss it.
