On Monday the Philadelphia 76ers offered fans a sneak peek at the much-talked about new uniforms that the team will be wearing next season.
The Sixers have been offering fans teases of what the redesigned uniforms will look like for months, including a glimpse from the inside of Nerlens Noel’s jacket at the draft lottery this past May. This time the team gave fans another sneak peek via their always fun Twitter feed:

In addition, they also announced the details of when and where fans will be able to see the new uniforms in all their glory for the first time.
The new uniforms will make their official debut on Thursday, June 18 at the Wells Fargo Center during an event that all fans will be able to attend for free. The evening will feature Q&A sessions, video presentations as well as appearances by the current Sixers staff and players as well as Billy Cunningham, Darryl Dawkins, Moses Malone, Bobby Jones, Allen Iverson and more. The Sixers Dancers, Sixers Phlight Squad and the team’s mascot Franklin will also be on hand.
When asked about the new look, Sixers CEO Scott O’Neil has this to say in a statement on the team’s website:
“In creating a new uniform, we wanted a clean, modern style that would also honor our past. These designs integrate key elements of uniforms worn by legends Wilt Chamberlain, Julius Erving and Billy Cunningham, and bring them together in one seamless presentation. The uniform reflects another key element of our updated brand identity reflecting a spirit of strength and patriotism which we cannot wait to share with our fans.”
Sounds like a good time will be had by all. The Sixers seem determined to get fans excited about the 2015-16 season as the 2015 NBA Draft gets closer and closer. While new uniforms won’t make the Sixers a wining franchise, it’s serves as another step in remaking the team’s image in the eyes of people in Philadelphia.
